Get started with ROUND0 in minutes

Quick Start Guide

This guide will walk you through creating your first interview in ROUND0. The entire process takes less than 5 minutes.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • A ROUND0 account (sign up at round0.io)
  • At least 1 credit available (new users get 1 free trial credit)
  • A job description ready

Step 1: Create a Job

First, you'll need to create a job description that will be used to generate interview questions.

  1. Navigate to Jobs in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Job
  3. Fill in the job details:
    • Title: e.g., "Senior Frontend Developer"
    • Department: e.g., "Engineering"
    • Location: e.g., "Remote" or "San Francisco, CA"
    • Description: Paste or type your full job description
    • Requirements: List key requirements
  4. Click Save

Using AI Job Parsing

Alternatively, you can upload an existing job description:

  1. Click Parse Job Description
  2. Upload a PDF or paste text
  3. Our AI will automatically extract:
    • Job title
    • Department
    • Location
    • Requirements
    • Key responsibilities
  4. Review and edit the extracted information
  5. Click Save

Once saved, ROUND0 will automatically generate interview questions based on your job description.

Step 2: Add a Candidate

Next, add the candidate you want to interview.

  1. Navigate to Candidates in the sidebar
  2. Click Add Candidate
  3. Fill in candidate details:
    • Name: Candidate's full name (required)
    • Email: Candidate's email address
    • Title: Mr/Mrs/etc
  4. Click Save
You can also create candidates directly when creating an interview.

Step 3: Create an Interview

Now you're ready to create the interview.

  1. Navigate to Interviews in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Interview
  3. In the dialog:
    • Select Job: Choose the job you created
    • Select Candidate: Choose your candidate
    • Review Questions: See generated questions
    • Customize (optional):
      • Exclude questions you don't want
      • Add custom questions with time limits
    • Check Credits: View estimated credit cost
  4. Click Create Interview

The system will:

  • Generate a unique interview link
  • Calculate credit requirements
  • Set an expiration date (configurable)
  • Reserve credits (not consumed until interview starts)

After creating the interview:

  1. Copy the interview URL from the interview details page
  2. Share it with your candidate via:
    • Email
    • Your ATS system
    • Any other communication channel

The link format is:

https://interview.round0.io/interview/{unique-token}
The interview link will expire based on the expiration period you configured. Make sure your candidate completes it before expiration.

Step 5: Monitor and Review

As the candidate completes the interview:

  1. Interview Starts:
    • Status changes to "In Progress"
    • Credits are consumed
    • Webhook notification sent (if configured)
  2. Interview Completes:
    • Status changes to "Completed"
    • Webhook notification sent (if configured)
  3. View Results:
    • Navigate to the interview details page
    • Access complete transcripts of all responses
    • Review full interview recordings

Customizing Questions

You can customize interview questions to match your needs:

Exclude Questions

If some auto-generated questions aren't relevant:

  1. In the Create Interview dialog, review the questions
  2. Uncheck any questions you want to exclude
  3. The credit estimate will update automatically

Add Custom Questions

To add your own questions:

  1. Click Add Custom Question
  2. Fill in:
    • Question Text: What you want to ask
    • Question Type: Behavioral, Technical, Situational, Experience, or Role-Specific
    • Time Limit: Seconds allowed (default: 180)
  3. Click Add
  4. Repeat for additional questions
Custom questions follow the same credit calculation: total time in minutes ÷ 15, rounded up.

Understanding Credit Usage

Credits are consumed based on interview duration:

  • 1 credit = 15 minutes of interview time
  • Default question time: 3 minutes (180 seconds)
  • Minimum charge: 1 credit per interview

Credits are:

  • Reserved when you create an interview
  • Consumed when the candidate starts the interview
  • Not refunded if the candidate abandons the interview

Troubleshooting

"Insufficient credits" error

If you see this error:

  • Check your credit balance in SettingsBilling
  • Purchase more credits or wait for pending interviews to expire
  • Remember: credits are reserved when creating interviews

If the link doesn't work:

  • Check if the interview has expired
  • Verify the full URL was copied correctly
  • Make sure the candidate isn't using a VPN that might block access

Questions seem irrelevant

If auto-generated questions don't fit:

  • Exclude them when creating the interview
  • Add custom questions instead
  • Update your job description to be more specific
  • Contact support for help with question generation
